What is Yoga for Anxiety?

image2

Slow, gentle, mindful yoga. Classes are designed to offer a holistic treatment alternative for individuals struggling with stress and anxiety.

Each 90-minute yoga class incorporates psychological interventions, breath work, meditation, and mindfulness training for a restorative healing experience. (while also getting a great strengthening workout)

It is a common misconception that anxiety is "all in your head." Your body is just as involved. An inextricable mind-body connection occurs as anxious thoughts activate biochemical reactions (fight or flight response) which then further exacerbate psychological distress and worry.

Unblock and release chronic physical holding of stress and anxiety in the body.  Discover the power of using the breath to calm an overactive nervous system.  Develop a solid understanding of how and why to utilize specific yoga poses and sequences to improve your physical and mental health.

Yoga for Anxiety classes will help you discover how to shift from being stuck in your mind to feeling present in your life.

Developing the ability to stay focused in the present moment (mindfulness) is a key to preventing anxiety from taking over your life. Otherwise, it's easy to stay trapped in your mind, worrying about things that have already happened in the past or may happen in the future.   Learn to recognize triggers that create anxiety spirals, gain control over intrusive thoughts, and prevent panic attacks naturally.   Therapeutic psychological techniques are introduced to gently push you out of your comfort zone and into new, healthier ways of thinking and being.

"Small-group fitness classes (e.g. yoga, cross-fit, & spin classes): • It is encouraged to build cohorts that remain consistent (i.e. the same individuals attend the same class, so that attendees are not with different individuals each class). • In a class setting, capacity is limited to the number of persons who can maintain physical distancing, or fourteen feet (14’) of distance if not wearing a mask, in the space where the class is taking place. Physical distancing requirements must be enforced. The smaller the group size, the lower the risk. • Instructors must adhere to physical distancing guidelines through the duration of the class."
